Poets House Hotel and Restaurant

40 St Mary's St, Ely CB7 4EY, UK – 01353 887777

I only ate in the restaurant, didn't stay in the hotel. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented, and good value for the quality. Friendly and attentive staff too. Only gripe is the toilet was quite a long way away, back through the bar and upstairs!

The Poet's House is located opposite the Cromwell House and is a lovely place to stop for a drink and meal. The beer is fresh and while I personally didn't eat the food the smells were delicious! The waiting staff were both friendly and helpful, will definitely return!

The Captains Table Cruising Restaurant

Cathedral Marina, Waterside, Ely CB7 4AU, UK – 07562 332538

Brilliant place to have a trip up and down the river. Great food people and the captain will make sure you have a memorable time.fantastic :-)

A party of 15 of us spent an afternoon on The Captains Table in June 2015.. The boat was a beautifully appointed canal boat with plenty of room for us as we sat at tables for 4. Crisp white cloths adorned the tables which were set with beautiful cutlery and crockery. On arrival, and as the boat set off, we were greeted with a glass of sparking wine. The atmosphere was totally relaxing and reinvigorating as we glided along the river for two hours, enjoying all the wildlife that is only visible from the river. Half and hour into our cruise we were served a lovely array of freshly prepared sandwiches; soon to be followed by delicious scones, clotted cream and jam and a variety of home made cakes. All in all it was an afternoon to remember and we disembarked, renewed, invigorated and relaxed, vowing to do it all again in the not too distant future. So if you are looking for something completely different for a celebration you certainly cannot beat a cruise on The Captains Table for first class service.
